Getting Started at QWERTY
Most families begin their contact with QWERTY with a phone call or email. We are happy to speak with you in some detail at no cost to review your questions, concerns, goals, etc. and to help determine if and/or how we can be of help. That initial exchange with one of our experienced professionals can lay the groundwork for services with QWERTY or can lead to ideas about alternate paths when appropriate.
If individual tutoring is in order, that first conversation with us can shed light on which of our staffs skills, personalities, schedules, background, etc. will best match your needs. Initial ideas regarding curricular planning can also be explored. You can then follow up with the selected consultant to work out schedule details and the education plan knowing you and our staff have the support of a team of QWERTY professionals. If you are considering an educational evaluation, our initial conversation can help you understand the factors involved in that process and can assist in determining the best plan. You can also further develop the plan with the staff member(s) selected to provide the service. Our overriding interest is in helping students and families; if we know we are not the right resource for you, we will do what we can to point you in the right direction.
The best way to get in touch with us:
Hours differ between the academic year (late August through early June) and the summer.
Academic Year:
Student appointments are usually scheduled between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10- 6 on Friday. Weekend hours are by special arrangement only. Tutors are generally not available to talk on the phone when a student is with him or her, so we encourage phone calls at other times of the day. You can leave a message and we will return the call as soon as possible-- usually in the morning hours. If it is urgent, a call during the student hours can sometimes be handled quickly.
Summer:
Student appointments are typically scheduled from 9 a.m. through 6 p.m. though some evening hours may be available. It is preferable that you call before or after these hours. We will usually return phone calls in the evening, and if time allows, during lunch.
About Email and Fax:
Often, email is the best way to get a message through. It is often possible for us to check these messages while a student is focused on another task, when using the phone would be more disruptive. Fax is private to QWERTY associates only and available 24 hours a day.
