EDUCATION CONSULTATION

Consultation can be arranged regarding a variety of educational issues.

• Our staff meets with parents of our ongoing students as needed for educational planning. We provide a written summary of each tutoring session.
• A review of prior evaluations of a student may shed new light on that information or clarify questions that such an evaluation may have raised. Such a review and planning session may be done for students with whom we work or with those we have not yet met.
• When a student and parents are having difficulty resolving homework issues, we can help determine relevant factors and develop strategies for remediation or accommodation.
• When a family is considering application to a different school, a consultation with us may help the family set priorities and evaluate relevant factors on which such a decision can be made. We are not school placement specialists and will refer you to such sources when appropriate.
• We typically communicate with classroom teachers upon request of the parent, student, or teacher. We believe that good communication is important but also acknowledge that most teachers must limit time spent in communication with tutors.
• We can attend parent-teacher conferences to share what we have learned about a child, to learn more about the student's school performance, or to facilitate when there is difficulty.

We encourage you to bring your education questions to us. There is no charge for an intial telephone consultation. We are happy to find out if there is a way we can help you and will give you our best suggestion for how to pursue your questions if we can not.
