General Resources for ADHD:

There is a plethora of material available online and in print regarding the nature, identification, and response to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is not within the scope of this site to provide a comprehensive review, but a few key resources that we have found especially positive, informative, practical, and relevant are worthy of note and will be collected here. As you do your own research on ADHD, bear in mind that the most reliable information is that which is offered by individuals and institutions whose specialty is the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD. Classroom teachers, alternative therapy practitioners, family physicians, and others may provide valuable insight and help, but often, their knowledge and experience directly related to ADHD is limited, and in some cases, there is financial gain for someone to recommend a particular therapy. There is an overwhelming amount of misinformation available, especially regarding the sometimes loaded topic of medication. When it comes to the web, it is useful to look for sites that come from schools of education or are based or that come from sources that present a wide range of information rather than those that focus on a particular treatment or perspective. Two such excellent resources are:

Adolescents and Adults with Learning Disabilities and ADHD: Assessment and Accommodation
by Noel Gregg:
An excellent book that provides an up-to-date and authoritative treatment of the subject of educational accommodations for students with Learning Disabilities and ADHD. Among the most interesting and new information is discussion of assistive technologies. For example, Gregg provides a clarifying explanation of eleven different "tools" that the use of e-text (in its various forms- computer, hand-held, Kindle, etc.) can enable a reader who seeks better access to print information. Amazon.com provides an opportunity to "look inside this book" to preview the information that may be most relevant to you:
